I began the Discovery Christian Center’s “Educational Services” business because I saw a need to guide/assist students through developmental and learning obstacles. Quite often these were not hindrances in abilities or aptitude, but miscommunications—misunderstandings—teaching & learning-style conflicts—and a host of other complexities that are intrinsic to human nature. In 2008, I completed a Master of Arts degree & Thesis in Educational Psychology – Development & Learning; and introduced a new learning model based on concepts of care. This model can be summarized by the quote “People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.” I have found this principle to be invaluable for helping students overcome hindrances in development & learning. DCC’s strategy is to approach each participant’s developmental needs as a unique opportunity for all parties to grow & mature in accordance with Christian principles.
