Meet Mr. Hite

I began the Discovery Christian Center’s Educational Enrichment Assistance (EEA) program because I saw a need to guide/assist students through developmental and learning obstacles. Quite often these were not hindrances in abilities or aptitude of the students, but miscommunications, misunderstandings, teaching & learning style conflicts between teachers and students, and a host of other complexities that are intrinsic to human nature. In 2008, I completed a Master of Arts degree & Thesis in Educational Psychology – Development & Learning; and introduced a new learning model based on concepts of care. This model can be summarized by the quote David Hite Jr.“People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.” I have found this principle to be invaluable for helping students overcome academic obstacles; and guiding them into higher level academic achievement & engagement through EEA. My goal for EEA participants is to approach each student’s educational issues/concerns as a unique opportunity for all parties to grow & develop in a positive way. This is accomplished through three phases of intervention, in accordance with Christian values:

EEA Assessment – ascertain hindrances & employ motivational strategies | EEA Sessions – review academic progress & strategy effectiveness | EEA Outcomes – improved attitude & academic grades

It is my honor and privilege to share the knowledge God has given me; and to help you succeed in the area of development & learning.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge” Proverbs 1:7 (NASB)
